Specialist – Tax Collector 2

04/06/2026 – 06/30/2026 (possible extension/permanent opportunity)

Position Overview:

The Tax Collector 2 is responsible for collecting delinquent tax liabilities for assigned cases, which may include Individual Income, Corporate Income, Withholding, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT). The role involves educating taxpayers, promoting voluntary compliance, and conducting collections via phone and field visits. Candidates must demonstrate integrity, a positive attitude, and strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and update taxpayer accounts with accurate information.
• Contact taxpayers via phone or in-person visits to resolve delinquencies.
• Educate taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and manage collection of assets, if necessary.
• Document all actions in multiple systems accurately.
• Participate in team activities and meet performance metrics.
• Assist in seizure and sale of assets/inventory to satisfy tax liabilities.
• Maintain compliance with AZ state laws and agency policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in a fast-paced call center environment (finance, banking, insurance, or telecommunications).
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace proficiency.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to work in-person for training and orientation.
• Local to the Greater Phoenix Metro area.

Preferred Skills:

• Associate’s degree or higher.
• Spanish-speaking ability.
• Experience in process improvement activities.

Other Requirements:

• Must pass pre-employment checks (criminal, fingerprinting, AZ tax filing records).
• Ability to work flexible hours within 7:45 AM – 5:15 PM operating schedule.
• Onsite training for 3–6 weeks (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) is mandatory.
• Ability to transport and set up issued IT equipment at home if required.
