Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Location: Tampa, FL

Company: Schaefer General Contracting

Job Type: Full-Time

Lead with Experience. Build with Integrity.

Are you a detail-driven leader with a passion for construction and a talent for turning vision into execution? At Schaefer General Contracting, we’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to take the helm of high-impact commercial construction projects from concept through completion.

Since 1954, Schaefer has built a reputation for excellence in commercial construction. As a third-generation national builder, we’ve earned the trust of clients nationwide through ingenuity, transparency, and unwavering project stewardship. At Schaefer, we don’t just manage projects—we build confidence and relationships that last.

More than half of our work comes from repeat clients who count on us to deliver exceptional results, time and again. That kind of trust only comes with a legacy of craftsmanship and integrity—and the kind of project leadership that ensures every milestone is met with precision and purpose.

If you're a motivated project leader who values collaboration, clear communication, and exceptional results, we invite you to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee all phases of commercial construction projects from pre-construction through close-out
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project success
  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work
  • Track project milestones and proactively address delays or issues to keep projects on time and on budget
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate consistently with field personnel, superintendents, vendors, and clients to maintain alignment and productivity
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation
  • Conduct regular project meetings to evaluate progress, resolve challenges, and update stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction project management
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong financial acumen and experience developing and managing project budgets and schedules
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting construction documents including architectural and engineering plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ProCore or other construction management software is a plus
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal construction codes and safety regulations
  • Ability and willingness to travel to out-of-state project sites as needed
  • Must be drug-free and able to pass mandatory background checks

Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay
  • Extensive Benefits Plan
  • Vacation & Holiday Pay
  • Company Paid Life Insurance & Long-Term Disability
  • Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Work in a friendly, family-oriented, fast-paced environment

At Schaefer General Contracting, we’re more than builders—we’re trusted partners. We take pride in our work, value our people, and believe that the right leadership creates legacies. If you’re ready to take your career to the next level with a company rooted in tradition and focused on the future, we’d love to hear from you.
