Project Engineer - Electrical Construction Projec ts

Location: Denver, Colorado (project-based onsite work)

Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $65,000 – $80,000

Innovar Group is partnering with a respected electrical construction organization delivering complex commercial and infrastructure projects across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer who enjoys coordinating field execution, supporting project leadership, and helping drive projects from kickoff through closeout.

This role is ideal for someone early in their construction management career or coming from the electrical field who wants to grow into a Project Manager career path.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Engineer, you’ll support project execution from planning through completion while working closely with Project Managers, field teams, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Project Managers with cost tracking, forecasting, and change management
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, procurement activities, and material tracking
  • Assist with project setup, scheduling alignment, and documentation management
  • Help maintain accurate purchase orders, subcontract documentation, and change orders
  • Track labor phase coding and ensure proper time allocation across project scopes
  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure execution aligns with project plans
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and maintain strong working relationships across teams
  • Assist with permitting coordination across jurisdictions
  • Support project closeout documentation and turnover coordination
  • Help ensure smooth transitions to service teams at project completion

What We’re Looking Fo r

  • Infrastructure projects
  • Mission-critical / data center environments (a plus)

Ideal candidates bring:

  • Experience supporting construction project delivery
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings and construction documentation
  • Exposure to procurement workflows and submittal processes
  • Comfort working between office teams and field personnel
  • Strong communication with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders

Required Qualifications

One of the following:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 1+ years project engineering experience or Journeyman Electrician license with 5+ years progressive project support experience

Plus:

  • Understanding of construction workflows and sequencing
  • Experience working with project documentation systems
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Electrical contractor experience
  • Exposure to permitting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Change order support experience
  • Cost-to-complete tracking exposure
  • Supporting multiple concurrent projects
