Location: Manhattan, NYC with travel to additional properties within 1.5 hour drive Schedule: Full-time & on-site Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience Position Summary: A prominent UHNW family C is seeking a polished, discreet, and service-oriented Houseman/Butler to join their private household staff. The ideal candidate will have a background in 5-star luxury hospitality or private estate service and will bring a proactive, detail-driven mindset to all tasks. This person will wear multiple hats and shift into multiple roles depending on the ever changing needs of the principals. This position involves anticipating the needs of the Principals, maintaining household operations (functionality, cleanliness, readiness for Principal arrival and guest arrival), assisting with light handyman duties, contributing to the seamless execution of private events, and more. A proactive approach to problem-solving, timemanagement, and a strong commitment to family needs are necessary. Key Responsibilities: Household Support: ● Oversee and coordinate with housekeeping staff to ensure overall cleanliness and order of interior and exterior areas, step in with light cleaning duties as required ● Monitor household inventory and supplies; restock and report low levels proactively ● Perform light handyman tasks (e.g., changing lightbulbs, minor repairs, basic troubleshooting of appliances, changing air filters, etc.) ● Ensure proper function of lighting, HVAC, AV systems, and other home technology in coordination with vendors and the property manager ● Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and retrieved from garage when needed ● Assist with setup and storage of holiday décor and household readiness for seasonal changes or themed events Service & Hospitality: ● Uphold luxury 5-star service standards at all times with utmost discretion and professionalism ● Assist with daily meal service setup, guest reception, and formal/informal dining events ● Support principal family members and guests with luggage, packages, and errands Event & Guest Support: ● Set up, execution, and break down for private events, dinners, and social functions ● Greet and welcome guests as necessary ● Ensure house is ready in advance for any house guests Property Oversight & Security: ● Conduct regular walkthroughs of properties to ensure cleanliness, security, and readiness ● Open and close the residence daily or as scheduled ● Oversee contractors, maintenance personnel, and other third-party vendors, ensuring discretion and quality control Potential Additional Responsibilities ● Light Cooking & Meal Prep: Assist private chef or principals with sous chef-level prep, plating, or execution of simple meals/snacks ● Chauffeur Duties: Drive principals to and from appointments, airports, and social functions ● Support with Household Organization Projects: Assist with labeling, streamlining, and maintaining storage areas, pantries, or closets ● Packing & Unpacking: Support with efficient packing/unpacking for travel, including wardrobe organization and garment care ● Wardrobe Care: Handle basic wardrobe maintenance tasks such as steaming, light ironing, and organizing seasonal clothing ● Floral arrangements Requirements: ● Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a UHNW private household or luxury hospitality setting ● Strong working knowledge of luxury household operations and service etiquette ● Impeccable attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness ● Ability to handle confidential information with the highest degree of discretion ● Tech-savvy and comfortable with smart home systems, basic AV, and security systems ● Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; background check, references required ● Valid drivers license with a clean driving record Preferred Attributes: ● Professional demeanor with a calm, courteous, and polished presence ● Flexible and adaptable with a “no task too small” attitude ● Team player with a collaborative mindset, comfortable working with a full household staff ● Physical ability to lift heavy items, climb ladders, and stand/walk for long periods ● Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a comparable role or a background in luxury hospitality; hotels, restaurants, or yachting
