Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION: Food Bank CoordinatorSUPERVISOR: Social Services CoordinatorSTATUS: Regular Part-Time/ Non-Exempt (Hourly)PAY: $18.00 (Hourly)SCOPE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Center Coordinator, the Food Bank Coordinator oversees the operations of the Food Bank operations, including but not limited to recruiting, training, and coordinating of volunteers, purchasing, restocking, ordering, preparing food, overseeing costs and quality control, coordination of food deliveries, monthly statistics and reports as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.Screen clients for emergency referrals as appropriateMaintain the highest level of food program standards, including but not limited to maintaining WA food health and safety standards and compliance with grants and contracts.Maintains food inventory with FIFO standards.Placing orders with vendors, purchasing food and non-food items from local stores, and procuring and managing donated food.Assist with volunteer recruitment, coordination, training, and retention.Train, schedule, and provide daily oversight and coordination of food program volunteers.Assure logs are maintained, service units are recorded in the client database, and reports are generated as needed.Pack food orders and stock shelves as needed.Responsible for implementing food program policies and procedures.Helps with food pick up and deliveries.Ensure that the facility is cleaned daily and kept in an organized manner.Assist in maintaining maintenance and cleaning policies and procedures.Ability to work flexible hours, food program-related events, and overtime hours, especially between Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.Support other program initiatives throughout the yearAll other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on a continuous basisAbility to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overheadAbility to operate telephoneAbility to operate a desktop or laptop computerAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to access and produce information from a computerAbility to understand written informationAbility to climb a ladder to a height of twenty feet or more.Ability to operate hand trucks and pallet jacks.Non-use of any substance, including alcohol or any drug, which might affect the health, safety, of well-being of a client, the public, other workers, and self while on the job or on Army premises.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive mannerDetail orientedSelf-starterStrong leadership skills & team playerStrong use of the English language in verbal and written communicationAbility to demonstrate functions as a lead worker and as a hands-on worker.Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple and changing work assignments, and effectively meet deadlines.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressureDesire to improve the quality of services to the highest level possible.Customer service mindsetGeneral social service knowledgeStrong analytical and research skillsInitiative, follow-through, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.General understanding of business protocolsAbility and willingness to keep information confidentialAbility to interact and communicate appropriately with donors, volunteers, and other staff members and adhere to The Salvation Army’s nondiscrimination policies regarding sex, race, age, national origin, differing abilities, religion, and sexual orientation.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:Candidate should have 1 year of experience in one of the following categories: supervising volunteers, working within a non-profit organization, customer service, food service, or food bank operation.The minimum requirement is a High School diploma or equivalent.Current, valid Washington State driver’s license, a safe driving record, and ability to pass the Salvation Army’s driver safety test.Ability to attain and maintain a Food Handler’s certificate.SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS: Must have basic knowledge of:MS WordMS ExcelMS OutlookDatabase softwareQualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
